Product Description Want shiny red tresses without frying your hair in ammonia-based dyes? Caca Rouge (as in red) might not look like a pretty product (and some say its wet hay smell isn't too pretty either), but after you rinse it out you have healthy locks that are radically red -- especially in the sunlight! With clove bud oil to give it a spicy scent, plus lemon juice and rosemary to add glossy shine, Caca Rouge attracts attention. Note: This product may melt and is NOT guaranteed to arrive solid during the summer months!

Amazing, natural-looking color! June 16, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I've used Lush's Caca Rouge henna a couple of times so far, and I love it. The color and texture of my hair are amazing! If you're looking for a natural-looking, soft and shiny, gorgeous red/auburn color, I highly recommend this product!!
LUSH HELL"NNA February 25, 2008 4 out of 6 found this review helpful
do not use this product unless you are armed with some very strong shampoo for afterwards. It has too much cocoa butter, its extremely hard to remove from hair and you really look like a grease monkey.I have no idea why they load their henna with cocoa butter br /conditioner should come seperate not along with the henna., three days of hell and ugly grease ball hair with lush. And the way you have to wring your hair to remove the grease really could end up breaking hair cuticle and shaft. be warned . Any pure henna powder is much better than this block of goo.
Best Henna I've ever used June 4, 2007 3 out of 4 found this review helpful
The Lush Hennas are longer lasting and have better gray coverage than any Henna I have used before. I will never use anything else. It's also not as messy as the powders and it rinses out more easily.
My first hena experience... May 15, 2007 11 out of 11 found this review helpful
... and it wasn't bad at all. I've read the horror stories about how messy and time consuming it is, but I expected worse. First some background on my hair:br /br /I have VERY thick, coarse, dark brown, little-below-the-shoulder length Asian hair. I haven't colored or highlighted my hair in years, however all the ends of my hair still do have the highlights from my last salon visit (about the bottom 2 inches of my hair is still streaked).br /br /Anyway, I am a huge Lush fan so thought I would give this a try because I wanted to get rid of my colored ends without causing any damage to my hair (all natural ingredients), or without changing my natural color. So I went ahead and bought LUSH's Caca Rouge Mama Hair Henna. I know it has hints of red in it, but I didn't think it would affect my hair all the badly.br /br /I followed the directions to a T (make sure you follow it carefully, can make a huge different!) and left the henna in my hair (my whole head of hair) for 4 hours. Yes it's time consuming, but if you plan ahead for a day that you can use to yourself, then that will be perfect. The smell is weird (they don't call if Caca for nothing) but after about 30 minutes, I was used to it. I also covered my hair with plastic wrap like recommended for a redder tinge. The only trouble I had was having little henna pieces drop off my hair as it dried whenever I moved a little. So I just stayed in my living room which is all floor, no carpet, and just swept up after.br /br /When I was done, I was very surprised to see that the Caca Rouge Mama Hair Henna actually did cover up my highlighted ends! There wasn't much of a color change anywhere else, which was perfect. I was also left with a gorgeous red tinge to my super dark colored hair. It was amazing and only showed when the light or sun hit my hair. It was so sexy... I couldn't be happier! For my whole head of hair, I ended up using half the bar, so I am only going to do the ends of my hair the next time. Also, the shine in my hair was amazing after I used this. Lush customer service is very helpful and nice, so don't be afraid to call and ask.br /br /Another thing I didn't like was the smell of the henna stayed for a couple of days after I had shampooed it out, however the smell did decrease everyday. Some people like the smell, other hate it, and I was in the 'hate it' group, so that bothered me a little.br /br /Overall a good product and would buy again to touch up my ends.br /br /**For light colored hair, I would recommend a strand test because if I could see the red color on my dark hair, I imagine it would show up quite well on lighter colored hair. LUSH's website has a great forum with before and after pictures. Check it out!
Good, but very messy... May 21, 2006 7 out of 8 found this review helpful
I've been using Lush hennas for nearly 3 years now. I really do love what it does for my hair -- it essentially gives my dark brown hair a red glaze to it (a more intense version of how it looks after lots of sun).br /br /There are some things everyone should know before using this stuff, however:br /You shouldn't use it on hair that has been recently colored with synthetic dyes (at the very least, do a strand test first). You shouldn't use any metallic utensils or bowls during the process (metal reacts with henna and can give less than desirable results). It's very, very messy. Grating the block of henna is time-consuming -- I prefer the "ziploc bag and a hammer" method. Lay down a tarp or some newspapers and wear latex gloves (unless you like having orange hands) -- smearing some vaseline along your hairline is a good idea, too (if any gets in your hair, cornstarch removes it well). It takes some time to remove from your hair (I find that using conditioner before shampooing seems to help). Your wet hair will smell like a barn (hay) for a few days.br /br /However, I think it's worth it. I feel more comfortable using this stuff than commercial dyes. The color never completely fades from my hair, and I never have obvious roots (might be a different story if you're a blonde, though). It turns my grays (which are closer to white than gray) bright orange, which actually looks pretty nice. In fact, my hairstylist complimented my haircolor the last time I saw her, though she did feel a need to tell me not to do it too often or risk wrecking my hair (I have heard that using it too often can make your hair coarse -- I can't vouch for this claim's veracity, though). I only henna my hair about twice a year.
