This formula is benzocaine free. One jar lasts for three to four months.

Customer Reviews:

4 out of 5 stars The photo being used for this product is slightly misleading...   September 19, 2008
My husband LOVES the Zirh shave gel. He usually gets the jar of gel as it is featured in the photo for this product listing. When he was unable to find the jar at our local retailer, I went online hoping to buy it for him. However, the 4oz size is NOT the jar - it is a very small tube. I should have realized that the jar is more than 4oz.(8.4oz, to be exact) and this was not the amazing deal it appeared to be, but I wasn't paying attention and went according to the photo. Very unpleasant surprise when I received my very tiny tube of this very awesome shave gel. Other than the misrepresentation of the size, I like this product. My husband likes that it is clear, rather than opaque, so he can see the hairs as he's shaving. I've used it a few times and it is pretty good stuff. Not too strong-smelling and fairly moisturizing without clogging up your razor blades.

4 out of 5 stars Great gel, but one has to know how to use it.   December 23, 2007
I too have used dozens of creams, soaps, and gels, and although I like the quality, scents and feel of the old-style European soaps and creams, I now prefer the moisturizing properties of high-end gels. The Zirh fits the bill. Anthony Logistics is another company that makes a good gel with similar properties.br /br /With respect to the negative review of the gentleman below, I'd like to point out a few things: if the razor clogs when using any of the high-end gels, you are using way too much gel. That is a common mistake, and most manufacturers actually write on the bottle, tub or tube that a very thin layer is all that is necessary. As the gentleman has found out, with this type of gel, using anything more than a thin layer is in fact counterproductive. Under no circumstances should one use so much that the gel is running and dripping down the face.br /br /I would also say, if a gentleman gets irritations with a multi-blade cartridge razor, he should look into shaving with a DE safety razor (check out www.badgerandblade.com for comprehensive discussions of shaving-related issues).br /br /Finally, I find that having my skin moisturized before shaving is important to avoid irritations. Often, the first application of the shaving gel is promptly absorbed by my skin, indicating that it is not properly moisturized. Another layer usually does the trick, but I prefer to apply Trumper's Coral Skin Food (a glycerin-based lotion) to saturate my skin before I apply the shaving gel.br /br /Oh, I gave "only" four stars, because the Zirh gel has practically no scent to speak of. That is something I miss. The good old creams and soaps from Taylor's, Trumper, etc. have the edge there.

5 out of 5 stars Excellent product   December 15, 2007
This is the best shaving gel that I have ever used. I find it easy to put on and does not clog up my razor. It allows a very close shave without razor burn or cuts. I have given it to other men as a gift and they have had the same experience.

1 out of 5 stars Talk about a mess   October 10, 2007

This is possibly the worst product I have ever used to shave with. I've tried them all. I've tried creams, foams, foaming gels, soaps, with and without badger brushes. Applying this "runny" gel on your face is an interesting feat as it drips all over the sink. There is a cool sensation when applying it, but too bad it doesn't actually help the shave. I use 2-blade and 4-blade razors and after just two strokes, the blades are completely clogged requiring me to rinse the razors vigorously to get the gel off so I can continue. My face and neck feel awful and have nicks and cuts everywhere, even after applying the Zirh pre-shave oil first. My $2.99 Nivea shaving gel works significantly better than the Zirh gel. Actually, I'd say that the Zirh gel doesn't work at all.
