His Story January 8, 2009 No, this is not the sequel to The Coldest Winter Ever, the title says that. This is Midnights life story and it will be continued based on how it ended. It was a good read, but I hate she didn't just give a ending. It is long, but was good.
Midnight January 7, 2009 I have really enjoyed reading this book, Sister Souljah paints a very clear picture of a young male struggling with his religious beliefes in a society that has no moral character. This book also points out the importance of the family foundation and how a child learns from what he sees, his mother is a very strong role model that is not accepting anything less than perfect, and he wants to make her proud, in comparison to the other children in the book that seem to be living by the rules of the street. I think every teenage girl and boy needs to read this book to understand the importance of self control and self respect.
Awesome January 6, 2009 Great book from beginning to end. The main characters morals and beliefs make you want to be a better person and will make you look at things in a whole new way. This world would be a better place if more people went about their lives as Midnight does. I enjoyed this story so much I instantly ordered 2 more of her books. Great read and hope she comes out with a sequel very soon.
set up January 6, 2009 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
We were set up, Sister Souljah u taught me the true meaning of never judge a book by it's title. I even reread Coldest Winter Ever to freshen up my memory and was disappointed to find out this had nothing at all to do with Winter and the Midnight in the 1st book. BEWARE .
Excellent Read January 6, 2009 I finished this book in about 2 days. It was an excellent read. Very informative and insightful. It was not a sequel to Coldest Winter...but it defined Midnight's past, whom and what he stands for. The book I believe was a blunt insight into a growing America. Which can be harsh to except if your not willing to at least agree that it exists even if not on the scale that is portrayed in the book. In Midnight it is discussed how poorly black women are treated by others and by themselves. But I don't feel this was done to offend but rather to illuminate so it can be fixed. If read with an open and positive mind, anyone can enjoy and learn something from reading this book!
