Product Description The DJ PRE II is a high quality Phono preamp designed for your home and studio. It acts as an interface between your turntable and your audio recording system. The analog input capacitance can be switched between 100pf and 200pf to optimize your phono cartridge response. A switchable low cut filter removes turntable rumble while leaving the audio pristine. The front gain trim control and signal/clip LED allow you to optimize the preamps gain for a wide range of input sources. The built-in low noise Phono preamp circuitry is highly accurate and precisely conforms to the RIAA standard. The Line Output jacks are low impedance and can work with any sound card. Housed in an all aluminum black anodized case, the DJ PRE II can be powered by a wide variety of external supplies. If you need to amplify and EQ your vinyl records to interface with your audio workstation, sound card, or main monitor system, the DJ PRE II gives you flawless audio reproduction in a rugged and reliable package. Great to hear albums again! December 27, 2008 The ART DJPre II Phono Preamp has been a great way to hookup my turntable to my new av/receiver and with the preamp, my old albums sound better then before. It is easy to use and the cost factor makes this a good choice for those not wanting to spend hundreds of dollars more on a receiver with phono inputs. Great product and good price makes listening to our record collection easy and affordable.
Gets the job done... December 18, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I've had this pre for about six months now. I have to say that it is convenient and was an easy fix to not having a pre-amp in any of my other equipment. So in lieu of buying something more expensive with a better pre onboard, I decided to opt for this. My main reason for it is personal listening and to sample vinyl for my productions. br /br /I am satisfied with my purchase. I think I paid about $50 delivered from Amazon. br /br /It arrived quickly and well packed, but when I opened the shipping package it was weird to see a plastic package like you would find a WALKMAN in years ago...(to be fair, Art's competitor's models come in similar packages)br /br /I connected it without problems though I don't remember specifics about the directions. It was self-explanatory if you know anything about music equipment/stereos. The only thing that you might need instructions for is the input cap button. Personally, I don't notice an audible difference with the button pressed or not. The low cut filter works okay, but I prefer to use a mixer if I need to cut frequencies as it is rather conservative in removing lower frequencies. br /br /I subtracted a star because it isn't very clean when you give it a lot of gain. I don't know why you'd need that much gain in the first place, but I did test it to see how it would perform when over-driven and it failed. For normal listening amplification, it seems more than adequate. I subtracted another star for the simplicity in sound. It does not enhance the sound at all. Further, I don't think pressing any of the buttons does much to change the sound. This is not an audiophile's unit, so if you don't expect that from it, you will be pleased with this $50 phono-pre.br /
Great Little Preamp September 9, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I just received this little gem today, and after I fired it up and listened to some classic rock on vinyl, all I can say is "wow". S/N ratio is great, no noticeable 60 HZ hum, and a great looking little high quality package. I got this for use with a spare input with my Yamaha C-45 preamp, as the phono circuit on the preamp was a little on the noisy side.br /br /I was not disappointed at all. You really can't go wrong for the money. br /br /Jan, 2009 update: My only real complaint about this is the lack of a power switch. It's always "on" when plugged in to the wall wart power supply. Other than that, I'm still very pleased for the little money spent on this unit.
Great little black box, great value May 30, 2008 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
I bought this product several months ago to transfer my LPs to digital files. The preamp produces a clean amplification, with the added benefit of several tunning options. With Gain Trim you can adjust the amplification according to the volume of the source. br /br /You can also adjust the Input Capacity to either 100 and 200 pFarads. br /br /One of the most useful setting it has is a Low Cut (High Pass) filter that allows all frequencies above 80 Hz to pass while blocking lower frecuencies. This gadget, when turned on, will kill the annoying rumble of your LP player. My LP player (a Technics) had a low frequency noise that is cut when you use the Low Cut producing a cleaner recording. A great gadget.br /br /By the way I use Audacity as my recording software together with this amplifier and this works just fine.br /br /A great purchase.br /br /

Great solution to the missing phono input on most of today's receivers. Plug and play. Works great.
