2 out of 5 stars I've had to return twice   January 3, 2009

I received this as a gift for Christmas. I had originally asked for a Crosley but thought this would be a great substitute. The original one I received had a warped turn table so I exchanged it for another. The second one's speakers buzz 80% of the time. I'm going to return the product and buy a Crosley instead.

2 out of 5 stars Disappointed in the radio   December 12, 2008
1 out of 1 found this review helpful

I loved the old-time look to it, and the fact that one could play records on it. But I mainly needed it for the radio, for my mother, and was very disappointed to find that the reception was basically sub-standard, so I had to return it.br /

2 out of 5 stars Not worth the price   December 7, 2008

This item has a good, not great, sound. Look of it is very cool, I get a lot of compliments on it. However, within 6 weeks of getting it the front light stopped working and the player only works 50% of the time now. Amazon's return policy is 30 days and the product itself has no warranty (does that tell you something about the quality?). Now I just have to turn it on and hope it's working. Don't waste your money, there are plenty of others just like this one that will serve you better!

3 out of 5 stars OK for money spent   November 29, 2008

The Excalibur RD54 is an ok product for the money. I knew it was not going to be perfect sound and it is not real wood. The top was cracked when I got it (happened during shipping I suppose). I didn't think it was worth my time to send it back. It plays records fine and sounds like the 1960's and early 70's record players did.

Great product and great sound quality. I have been able to listen to LP's that I had not heard in years.
