Worthless and frustrating! September 25, 2007 NOTE: I didn't buy this from Amazon, but this is the only place I have found to post a review. 1 star is generous. br /This radio has the quality of a Cracker Jacks prize. The instructions are a joke - so minimal that I can't tell if the behavior of the unit I have is due to defects or it is the way it's supposed to work. When you use the built in rechargeable batteries and switch from AM to FM, the display goes blank. The radio receiver is virtually useless with weak signals. At a remote property, none of the bands (weather, AM or FM) picked up signals other small portable radios played with no problem. There are buttons that affect the radios function strategically placed right where you tend to grab the unit, so you inadvertently change settings simply by picking it up. For example, the switch to turn the alarm on and off is a button on the top so, until you learn where not to hold it, you are surprised by the alarm you unintentionally turned on. When you select the flashing LED, you also get the very anemic and annoying "siren" sound. The jack to recharge the puny rechargeable batteries requires a 6 volt charger. A charger is not included, but the instructions recommend charging the unit for 12 hours before using it the first time. Only by adding 6 AA batteries do the clock, display and back light work.br /Poor design and even poorer performance. Save your money!
