Amazon.com Product Description Although it's a budget model, the JVC XL-FZ258BK five-disc carousel player still satisfies many requirements for ergonomic operation and quality sound reproduction. JVC equips the XL-FZ258BK with play exchange, which lets you change any four discs while one is playing. An optical digital output lets you record direct to CD-R or minidisc for pure digital copies and also facilitates integration with a surround receiver and home theater.PJVC has long been recognized for its dedication to high sound quality. Accordingly, this player offers JVC's exclusive P.E.M. D.D. (Pulse Edge Modulation Differential-Linearity-Errorless) digital-to-analog (D/A) converter, touted by many as one of the most accurate and "musical" one-bit D/As available. The converter is designed to render all the delicacy and subtlety of recorded music, and an 8x oversampling digital filter lends a helping hand.PConveniences include continuous play and smart random play, five individual disc-select keys on the front panel, and a remote control with 10-key pad for direct disc and track access. The XL-FZ258BK also offers a 20-track program chart, resume functionality (letting you pick up where you left off before you turned off the player), program play (up to 32 tracks and/or discs), and four-way repeat (which lets you repeat all tracks, a single track, programmed tracks, and random-play options).PJVC has thoughtfully provided an independent volume control for the player's headphone jack, and the unit comes with a disc-stabilizing clamper to reduce potentially sound-degrading internal vibrations.pJVC's enhanced Compu Link control system uses intuitive technology to foster communication between various JVC components. This unit comes with a one-year warranty on parts and a 90-day warranty on labor.

So far, so good January 8, 2009 I've had the JVC changer, XL-FZ258BK for about a month. It was playing Christmas CD's almost continuously over the holidays with 5 CD's on 'random'. It worked perfectly through my Bose Wave Radio. It played all my home-recorded CD's also; however, it does not like CD-RW's. So far, I'm very satisfied and it is worth the $129 I paid. Altho there were some negative reviews on this model, I have not experienced any problems like those and I haven't had to contact customer service "yet".
Kudos to Amazon, less so to JVC January 7, 2009 We bought a JVC 5 CD changer from Amazon after some research, but when it arrived it was faulty and would not isert the CD to play at all.I contacted Amazon and theynhad an amazing retrun web site and policy that allowed me to reorder the product, print a cost free retrurnlabel and even map the nearest UPS store to send the product back.We now have a new CD player [which works fine],but our exeperience with Amazon was A++++.br /br / gw
Great unit, especially for the price! January 3, 2009 We had an older Sony disc changer model which was similar in design to this one but died on us gradually over time. Although I am not a 'gadget' person, so I can't get technical about what makes this model great for us, I had done some research on this product and also trusted the JVC name. For the price (we paid less than $100 with a promotion being run at the time), this was a fantastic deal, and the unit works well in terms of shuffle, multiple disc play and single disc play.
It's fine December 30, 2008 Although this CD changer is slightly bigger than I'd expected it works well, the change while playing feature is a vast improvement over my previous player, and it sounds great. The programming interface seems very complicated, but who uses that anyway? It looks nice.
JVC 5-Disc CD Player December 25, 2008 As always JVC's quality of merchandise rises to the top. This unit was to replace another one that had started to go bad. It is just what I wanted and expected to get from JVC when I was looking for a replacement. I recommend this manufacturer unit and model to anyone who is looking for a 5-disc cd player for their stereo system.
