Sansa Speakers December 10, 2008 I bought this item so I didn't have to wear earplugs while fishing on my boat. It plays loud enough to be heard when the motor isn't running. Since all the dual speaker unit does is control the On and Off mode of the speakers you have to control volume, bass, treble, etc. through your Sansa player (any MP3 and Ipod model works). The speaker has on On/Off switch at the top edge and a blue light that lets you know it's on (running on the three batteries).br / The sound is a little too tinny for me but I could get more bass by adjusting my Sansa player to help compensate for it. I also use this when I'm working indoors where there isn't a stereo handy. The three batteries lasted for three days about eight hours each day. All I did was re-charge my Sansa player's internal batteries every night and the unit played strong each day without having to replace the three batteries.br /br /My Pro's on this unit are:br /1= small size (about the size of a large Grapefruit) but still plenty loud enough to listen to it at work (office cubical, etc.) or in any room in the house. The base of the unit has a flat flange, that stores the batteries, to prop it up vertically.br /2= good battery life. My three AA batteries lasted over 30 hours. Re-charge your Sansa player and the Macally Speakers should last for days.br /3= good construction. I've dropped this unit about 6 times in 8 months(three in the boat from wave bouncing) and it keeps on playing without a problem or dent. The only problem I've had with the unit is I dropped it on the hard Kitchen floor and now the On/Off switch won't turn off. I have to reverse one of the three batteries to make it shut off (note the Blue Light). Use the Sansa player's wrist strap to walk around with it and you should solve this problem.br /br /My Con's are:br /1= sound is "tinny". It's very good for a small unit but tends to be a little "tinny" unless you modify the base, treble, etc. more through the Sansa player. The Sansa player also controls the volume.br /2 = no attachments on the backside to hang it. A strap or slot would have been nice.br /br /Summary- I'm very pleased with the product. It's robust enough to be bounced around, loud enough to still play it privately indoors in cubicles or bedrooms, and small enough to put it in a backpack for camping, boating, flying, etc. Good product for the kids too.
