5 out of 5 stars Zip-A-Dee-Doo-Dah, what a great movie!   September 2, 2008

Never before in the history of entertainment has one motion picture become so extraordinary, much admired and fondly remembered than the all-time classic film, Walt Disney's "Song Of The South", the 1946 film masterpiece that still holds a special place in so many people's hearts. Not only was this the very first feature film to combine live action and animation into one cohesive unit, but it was done very effectively; even for 1946 standards. The film's legendary song "Zip-A-Dee-Doo-Dah" rightfully earned the Academy Award for the Best Song of the Year. James Baskett gives one of the most heartfelt performances in screen history as the timeless Uncle Remus, whose charm and down-to-earth mannerisms helped him to become one of the most beloved movie characters of all time. Baskett's portrayal earned him a Special Honorary Oscar. The animated sequences are a sheer delight, with Uncle Remus narrating the stories of Br'er Rabbit as he continually tries to outsmart the sly Br'er Fox, with Br'er Bear as his sidekick. This motion picture is one the Disney studios greatest cinematic accomplishments, as well as one of the 10 best films of the 1940's. It is a technicolor marvel, filled with joyful moments that will please every viewer from start to finish. If you want good wholesome and top-quality family entertainment, then look no farther than "Song Of The South", Disney's masterpiece!
